Sino Group’s Grand Central honoured for sustainability features

With sustainability at the heart of its design, Grand Central is an urban oasis that enables residents and the public to get closer to nature.

As a leading property developer in Hong Kong, Sino Group has long been committed to merging modernity and mother nature. Sustainability is at the core of all that they do; the group is dedicated to reconnecting people with nature by promoting biodiversity, sustainable design, people-centric living spaces, and holistic approaches to wellness.

Sino Group’s Grand Central, its joint-venture with the Urban Renewal Authority and Chinese Estates Holdings, has received multiple accolades from Hong Kong and international communities for its urban greening designs and eco-friendly features.

Recent honours include:

• Grand Award in the New Buildings Category ‘Completed Projects – Commercial’ at HKGBC Green Building Awards 2021

• Gold in the ‘Best Green Development’ category and Silver in the ‘Best Urban Regeneration Project’ at MIPIM Asia Awards 2021

Grand Central plays an integral role in Hong Kong’s Energising Kowloon East initiative. With wellness and sustainability at the heart of its design, the development features a greening ratio of 30% and an outdoor green space spanning over 7,500 sqm. It is an urban oasis that enables residents and the public to get closer to nature—including the more than 400 trees building designers planted to flower at different times of the year.

The residents’ clubhouse is bursting with green features, including wind turbines that power light sources, an automated irrigation system that saves water consumption, and solar panels that harvest energy for phone-charging stations. Additionally, residents can exercise in a way that not only contributes to their own health and wellness but the planet’s, too; Grand Central’s exercise equipment generates energy from motion.

Sino Group is proud to be building a more sustainable society through its diverse green initiatives. In October 2020, the group announced its Sustainability Vision 2030 in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This document details Sino Group’s sustainability goals that align with six key areas of focus under its ‘Creating Better Lifescapes’ vision, and adopt a new 3R Strategy (Renew, Reduce, Redefine) to address Hong Kong’s sustainability challenges.

By pledging its support for the United Nations SDGs, Sino Group reaffirmed its commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner. These latest accolades for Grand Central are a reflection of this.
