Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong (SCAD Hong Kong) has announced the introduction of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in User Experience (UX) Design. SCAD’s faculty and academic leadership collaborated with Google to develop the programme’s groundbreaking curriculum focused on four foundational pillars: human behavior, technical proficiency, aesthetics and collaboration. The programme is the first of its kind to launch in the region and applications for prospective students are now open.

Commencing in January 2019, the unique combination of courses included in this academic offering will equip graduates with the competitive set of skills required by professionals working in this rapidly emerging field. As one of today’s most in-demand professions in Hong Kong and across the global market, UX designers are prepared to create revolutionary design products, solutions and services – both digital and physical – that reinvent and reinvigorate how companies connect with customers and stay competitive. Career opportunities include; UX designer, UI designer, product designer, product researcher, interaction design director/consultant, mobile application designer, information architect and usability testing specialist.

The B.F.A. in UX Design provides an innovative approach to curricular development, presenting a game-changing dynamic for the industry at large. The programme was developed as a direct response to Google’s call for adequately trained UX designers, and has been specially crafted using SCAD’s unique expertise in technology and design education. Graduating SCAD UX designers are able to undertake complex user experience challenges with innovative, desirable and viable design that offers essential solutions for businesses, governments and communities around the world.

From mobile devices to intelligent clothing, automobile interiors to health care informatics, UX designers harness the power of technology to help organizations understand how customer behavior drives decisions, interpreting the results to evolve their product and service offerings. A well-rounded UX designer is a skilled researcher, effective programmer and visionary designer. At SCAD, UX design students learn how to master all three roles, developing their creative, technical and analytical skills to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
