JERDE Explores Diverse Typologies with New Projects

JERDE is a visionary urban design studio creating signature places that deliver memorable experiences and attract more than a billion people each year. They have recently announced the opening, construction and development of new projects around the world that explore mixed-use, urban villages, civic, cultural, and residential design. As evidenced by the wide range of typologies, the iconic and internationally renowned architecture and urban planning studio has expanded its expertise in recent years, taking on projects of varying scale and programs. Design Principals are based in the Los Angeles headquarters and in Singapore, and the firm has additional offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

“Though we may be known in some circles for our expertise and deep portfolio in retail design, we have never considered ourselves as being specialists in any one project type,” says JERDE CEO Paul Martinkovic. “We’ve always prided ourselves on finding creative design solutions to problems, no matter the typology, and the range of projects we are working on now reflects that.”

New projects by the architecture and urban planning studio include:

Shanghai World Trade Center, Shanghai, China: JERDE introduces the newly opened Shanghai World Trade Center consisting of office, dining, entertainment, and lifestyle destinations created to complement existing neighborhood offerings.

U-Place, Kawagoe, Japan: JERDE officially announces the opening of U-Place, a new gateway to Kawagoe that acts as a catalyst for future growth in Japan.

Maryam Island, Sharjah, UAE: Ultimate leisure and luxury awaits future residents and guests once Maryam Island is open – a hideaway in the center of natural beauty.

Distrito Armida, Monterrey, Mexico: Currently under construction, JERDE creates a mixed-use project masterplan for Distrito Armida, attracting young professionals, families and business owners with a modern outlook and appreciation for urban living.

Qiantan Cultural Center, Shanghai, China: JERDE announces the development of Qiantan Cultural Center, the new connective cultural center at the epicenter of art, culture and creativity in Shanghai to open in 2023.

Trinity Gardens, Bucharest, Romania: Yet to proceed into the development stage, JERDE’s masterplan for Trinity Gardens allows for the infusion of visceral and organic energy as locals are encouraged to make their individual spirit shine through the neighborhood.
