An agency is only as good as the people within it.

As a business that relies predominantly on having a talented team, a successful PR agency is one that attracts and retains the right people and creates an environment where they work and play well together.

We expect our colleagues to be curious, creative, self-motivated, highly skilled and passionate. We look for communicators with journalistic instincts, digitally savvy marketers, business-minded professionals and creative mavericks.

Over the last year we have appointed seasoned PRs, journalists, digital marketers, social media strategists, content creators and data diggers from client and agency backgrounds to the Sinclair team. Each has brought with them their own insights and perspectives, adding to the depth of the service we can provide our clients.

Over the last 8 years, we’ve developed a team of natural leaders, bold thinkers, creatives and storytellers that build value, inspire action, and grow reputation for brands.

Here are a few of the ways we put our team first:

  • Agency Values: Our values and golden rules are written into employment contracts and welcome playbooks, leaving no room for confusion on the ethical standing of the agency and expectations of being part of the team.
  • Sinclair Mentorship Programme: Each team member has a one-on-one mentorship relationship with a person one step their senior, with emphasis on career growth and leadership skills building.
  • Bi-annual appraisals: We know that our team likes to hear feedback on what they are doing well and where they can develop, and our appraisals allow two-way feedback for the management team to also learn how we can improve.
  • Learning is a constant endeavour at Sinclair, where continuous self-improvement is a core belief. Each team member is allocated budget for external training and attending industry conferences. To encourage a bottom-up learning and cross-sharing culture we encourage reverse mentorship, hosting regular internal training mornings, and always standing by our core value that there is no such thing as a mistake, only a learning.
  • Team Building: Monthly team activities see us participate in a range of activities, from tai chi to pottery, enabling team members to build rapport and strengthen the sense of community within the agency.
  • Culture: Sinclair’s “family” culture highly encourages learning and cross-skilling from fellow team members. There is never a stupid question.
  • The Sinclair Insights platform gives voice to team members, empowering them to share their ideas with their colleagues and the wider community. Every team member is given a platform and encouraged to have a voice in the industry.
  • Internal Recognition: Sinclair has developed an individual talent recognition programme, Star of the Month. The team votes for the colleague that they feel deserve the praise and limelight. It is a way of saying thank you for their outstanding performance.

We’ve built a team of the best conversationalists in the business by being dedicated to growing their careers. Our strategy has been a success, with an employee retention rate of over 90%, alongside a growth in the team by over 60% in the last year alone. An example of how we build careers is our very own Holly Chan. Holly joined Sinclair as a new graduate five years ago, and this year was recognized as one of the industry’s most exciting up and coming talents, awarded by Young PR Professional of the Year at the PRPA awards 2017 and Rising Star at PR Awards 2017. She is now a Senior Account Manager, leading some of the agency’s key accounts while training up the next generation of PRs. Our Team First philosophy encourages each and every team member to be the best they can be.
